A Helping Paw - Foster Coordinator

Thank you for your interest in working for the Oak Tree Animals’ Charity.

A Helping Paw - Foster Coordinator

A Helping Paw - Foster Coordinator

Oak Tree Animals’ Charity has been caring for animals for over 100 years. During this time our ethos that every animal deserves the best life and care we can provide has not changed. However, the society in which we provide that care has changed. We recognise that we must function effectively within our community and that this means going out into the community and helping animals and their owners.

To enable us to perform this important role we are recruiting a part-time Animal Fostering Co-Ordinator for our A Helping Paw programme. This role is part-time and is based on 20 hours per week at a salary of £9000 pa. The role is offered on an initial 12 month contract, renewable subject to funding.

The prime purpose of the role is to interact with members of the community who are animal owners and who may be experiencing domestic violence or homelessness and as a consequence need a short term foster home for their pet until they can get back on track.

To succeed in this role you must have highly developed interpersonal skills and be an effective communicator able to build solid working relationships with potential foster carers and the relevant social service departments based on mutual trust and respect. You should be able to work independently to develop effective care and support programmes which benefit all parties; recognising that the pet owner’s prime concern is often not their personal problems but ensuring that their pet, so often the only thing they are close to, is being cared for.

To succeed in this role you need to have experience in providing care for animals and also, ideally, experience in social work, especially homelessness and dealing with domestic abuse. You must be a good team-player possessed of a sense of humour, able to work accurately to dead-lines and you must want to make a difference.

To apply please submit a current CV and a covering letter which explains why you have a passion for animals and your thoughts regarding how you would develop this role to hr@oaktreeanimals.org.uk

The closing date for applications is Friday 31st August.
