Community Education Officer (Fixed Term 12 months)

Community Education Officer (Fixed Term 12 months)

At Oak Tree Animals' Charity we are dedicated to animal welfare and we believe that the best way to care for animals is to educate and advise owners about responsible pet ownership.  To facilitate this we are recruiting a truly unique person who is confident when dealing with the general public and their animals.

In this role you will be interacting with the local community throughout our region. Talking to pet owners, school groups and local organisations, you will also create and deliver an educational plan to include local groups and ‘hard-to-reach’ individuals. You will attend local awareness days and events promoting preventative care together with providing proactive solutions while also offering advice and guidance to local pet owners. Additionally, you will also deliver monthly educational and advice workshops to our local community, focusing on responsible pet ownership to improve human-animal relationships. This will include: dog welfare and safety, unwanted feral cat colonies and wildlife protection.

To succeed you must be confident in delivering effective presentations along with creating interesting and informative animal welfare resources aimed at a wide audience within the local community. You must be a ‘People Person’ but, above all, you must have a passion for working with our local community and the animals within it.

To apply you must hold a full UK driving license. A background in animal welfare and/or education would be advantageous, however all applicants will be considered. If you have a passion for the challenge please send your CV and a covering letter detailing your achievements and career ambitions to the HR Dept. Oak Tree Animals’ Charity, Wetheral Shields, CA4 8JA or email hr@oaktreeanimals.org.uk
