Introduction to scent work

We are running four weeks of two hour sessions aimed at introducing your dog to searching and scent work. We will look at teaching the dogs how to enjoy searching for their favourite reward as well as looking at how to progress this to searching for longer periods for a chosen scent. We will also begin the process of teaching an indication on the scent.

Dogs do not need to be sociable with other dogs as we will work 1 dog at a time but bearing in mind we are an open site so there may be dogs moving around site. The area the dogs will work will be away from others. Ideally all dogs need to be happy to wait in the car for their turn.

Scent work is a great way to tire out dogs mentally and allow them to use their instinctive behaviours in a constructive way! It can also have a calming effect on over aroused dogs. This course runs on a Thursday evening from 4pm to 6pm for 4 weeks.
