Can Live with Another Dog
Brian is an excitable 5 year old Patterdale who is scanning the horizon for a new home. He hasn't had the best life leading up to now and these last few months have been particularly turbulent for him. However, despite all of this, this wee fella is full of energy and love! He is super affectionate and just wants to cosy up to you on the couch.
Brian is an ex-working dog and has always lived in kennels. Therefore he cannot live with cats or other tempting small furry animals. He also needs to be supervised in the home until he finds his paws with housetraining. This will require someone to be around the majority of the day until he has cracked it.
Patterdales are an active breed and need to be kept mentally and physically stimulated. As Brian was a working dog he would benefit from having a job to do. So potential owners will need to keep up with his busy pace of life but also at the same time be aware of when Brian needs downtime.
He can be quite easily distracted by any movement or noises in his surrounding environment and as a result he can lack focus! Day by day this has been greatly improving. To help him further, we wish to home him in a rural/semi-rural area and in a quiet home. Therefore no young children (12+) . He will need a SECURE garden to run around in and to work on his recall training.
He could potentially live with another dog and this will be done on a case by case basis as well as depend on meetings here at Oak Tree.

WE HAVE MORE DOGS IN NEED
On average, we have 400 animals come into our shelter every year. Please take a look at some of our dogs looking for loving homes and see if you can find a friend for life. Where appropriate, all of our animals are vaccinated, microchipped and neutered. We also give each animal a behavioural assessment to identify their needs and help you find your perfect companion.
