Carrie can be quite a shy girl but she has a sense of fun and quickly gains confidence so long as you take things slowly with her. She will need time to get used to new experiences. Carrie could be homed with a friendly dog who would help to show her the ropes, though she can be a bit full on so senior dogs may find her too much! She could potentially live with a confident cat that is used to dogs but introductions would have to been done carefully and slowly.
Carrie would benefit from a quiet home without young children but could potentially be rehomed with sensible, older children aged 10+.
Carrie came to us in mid December with her 6 brothers and sisters, aged approximately 5 months. They came from a farm environment so have not had the usual upbringing within a home setting. We have been working with them daily as a group and individually to get them used to being handled by a variety of people, playing with toys, wearing a collar and being walked on a lead.
Carrie has unfortunately suffered from a fracture in her hock, it is healing well in our care but her exercise will have to be increased gradually and potential adopters should be confident in monitoring this for any issues that may arise.
We are looking for people who have experience of collies and who have the patience and experience to help Carries confidence grow. She is an incredibly intelligent girl so will require lots of mental stimulation.
She will need owners who will only be away from home for periods up to 2 hours initially. Carrie will need a secure garden that they can explore in safely. The ideal home for Carrie would be a rural/semi-rural one as she has little or no experience of busy town life and could find it overwhelming.

WE HAVE MORE DOGS IN NEED
On average, we have 400 animals come into our shelter every year. Please take a look at some of our dogs looking for loving homes and see if you can find a friend for life. Where appropriate, all of our animals are vaccinated, microchipped and neutered. We also give each animal a behavioural assessment to identify their needs and help you find your perfect companion.
