Say hello to handsome, gentle Glen. He is a 6 year old retired trailhound who is looking for a comfortable sofa to snooze on, and plenty of country walks. We are looking for a rural/semi rural home with a garden and good fencing. He has such a laid back personality. Everyone who meets him falls in love with him.

Glen has previously lived in a kennel but he is always clean in his kennel, so house training will not be an issue for him. He will happily adapt to home life and just needs people who are around much of the time to help him initially settle in. He would even be a good candidate to go along to work with someone. Glen has a happy-go-lucky kind of personality and will be an amazing companion for someone. He is not a couch potato but is happy to take life at a gentle pace. He has slight lameness in one front leg joint, which is related to his racing days.

Glen is happy to meet other dogs. We will be assessing him with cats but generally, these hounds live harmoniously in a home with a cat. He could live with children, although we would be looking at older children, only because hounds love to steal tasty food that smaller people may be carrying around!

Trailhounds take part in racing over the fells, following a strong aniseed scent. Bearing this in mind, an owner must be dedicated to retraining them to have good recall, before letting them go offlead. Glen is very responsive to being called (with a tasty reward, of course!)

Glen will be a great candidate for an owner wishing to take part in the increasingly popular mantrailing or scentwork activities.

If you feel Glen may be the one for you, please email us to tell us why you feel you may be the right home for him.   PLEASE INCLUDE YOUR PHONE NUMBER IN THE EMAIL.

On average, we have 400 animals come into our shelter every year. Please take a look at some of our dogs looking for loving homes and see if you can find a friend for life. Where appropriate, all of our animals are vaccinated, microchipped and neutered. We also give each animal a behavioural assessment to identify their needs and help you find your perfect companion.
