Description

Jinny is a gorgeous scruff ball with brains for days!

She is a young and active dog that loves to keep her body and mind busy. As a smart cookie she really needs a home that will keep her mentally challenged as well as providing lots of physical exercise.

Jinny has a big bark and isn't shy of using it! She will bark at strangers and although we have seen some excellent progress her training will need to be continued. As she likes to keep her social circle small we are looking for a home in a quiet area, ideally rural so that Jinny is able to enjoy walks without many distractions. She will need a secure garden so she can practice her life skills and will need to be the only dog in the home. Although her lead walking has vastly improved she can be powerful (she's quite a big, strong lass!) when she is reacting to strangers.

Once Jinny knows you she is incredibly affectionate, bum scratches being her fuss of choice. She does take some time to trust new people so any potential adopters must be willing to do multiple visits.

Jinny would be best suited to an adult only home but could potentially live with older, teenage children (17+). Jinny would not be suitable to go to a home with regularly visiting young children.

We have been using positive reinforcement techniques to help Jinny with her reactivity and have seen some great progress. Any potential adopters must be willing to continue her training using positive methods. Any potential adopters must be willing to continue structured training sessions with either Oak Tree or another force-free trainer once she is in her new home.

Jinny is full of character and has a real drive to learn. She has the potential to be a wonderful companion for someone who is prepared to put the work in.

If you feel you could provide Jinny with the home she needs please email ginaa@oaktreeanimals.org.uk with your address, contact number and a few sentences on why you are a match for Jinny.

Updates

Please note that Jinny has been viewed by a potential adopter. Due to Jinnys more complex needs she needs multiple viewings before strong interest or reserve is put on her. Please do feel free to contact us and register your interest and we will contact you in the event that the current prospective home falls through.

WE HAVE MORE DOGS IN NEED

On average, we have 400 animals come into our shelter every year. Please take a look at some of our dogs looking for loving homes and see if you can find a friend for life. Where appropriate, all of our animals are vaccinated, microchipped and neutered. We also give each animal a behavioural assessment to identify their needs and help you find your perfect companion.
