Description

Minnie is a very bouncy and energetic young dog that is looking for an active home with experienced owners.

She has a lot to learn but she has a wonderfully sweet nature. She is eager and food motivated and will quickly excel in the right home with consistent positive training. She will be a fun project dog for someone who is interested in training and into canine sports such as agility or canicross.

Minnie is not used to being left alone so will need owners who can be with her most of the time initially and can build up time left alone. She would benefit from the use of a secure garden to aid in her recall and house training. A secure garden will likely be a must as she has been known to escape in her previous home!

She is a total softie so would prefer owners who dont mind her cuddling up on the couch beside them!

Minnie is a very excitable and hasn't quite learned her manners yet when dealing with other dogs. Minnie has quite poor muscling and needs a steady build up of exercise, due to this and her poor manners we feel at this stage she would be best suited as the only dog in the home. This will make training easier and also decrease the chance of injury through play.

Minnie cannot live with cats but could potentially live with older children (10+). Minnie appears to have a high prey drive so is probably unsuitable to live with small furries or free roaming animals such as chickens.

Minnie has not experienced much so gets very excited when seeing new things, people or animals. Usually this manifests in a lot of jumping and barking but she will soon acclimatize with continued work on her focus and practicing calm behaviours.

WE HAVE MORE DOGS IN NEED

On average, we have 400 animals come into our shelter every year. Please take a look at some of our dogs looking for loving homes and see if you can find a friend for life. Where appropriate, all of our animals are vaccinated, microchipped and neutered. We also give each animal a behavioural assessment to identify their needs and help you find your perfect companion.
