Description
Muffin is a very cheeky Shetland pony with a bold personality! He is now looking for a new home as a companion.
He enjoys a groom and is good to bath. He loads well for travelling. As a typical Shetland, he can be strong to lead, throwing in an occasional excited buck on the way to the field! He enjoys walks around site.
Muffin gets on well with all horses, both mares and geldings.
Muffin is nervous of the farrier, as well as needles. He has come on well with this while being with us, but would need someone calm and patient to work with him to further gain confidence.
Muffin has suffered from previous chronic laminitis, as well as having Equine Metabolic Syndrome (EMS). Muffin will need a home with an owner who has experience with laminitic ponies. He is currently well managed without any medication, with turnout on a grass free paddock during the day and stabled overnight with soaked hay. He has access to a bare grass paddock for a few hours each day. Any potential new home, will need to continue with this turnout routine, carefully managing his routine to prevent recurrence of his laminitis.

WE HAVE MORE HORSES AND PONIES IN NEED
On average, we have 400 animals come into our shelter every year. Please take a look at some of our horses and ponies looking for loving homes and see if you can find a friend for life. Where appropriate, all of our animals are vaccinated, microchipped and neutered. We also give each animal a behavioural assessment to identify their needs and help you find your perfect companion.
