Animal Care Assistant

Gordon joined the Animal Team at Oak Tree in 2023, bringing with him a strong background in dog training and a passion for animal welfare. Having previously lived in Canada, Gordon now shares his life with his Border Collie, Piper—who often lends a paw in helping to socialise dogs looking for new homes—and his most recent addition, Peggy the Chihuahua, who he adopted from Oak Tree.

Gordon is dedicated to providing daily care, enrichment, and support to both our cats and dogs while they await their forever families. If you've ever admired the fun climbing frames or enrichment activities in our dog exercise areas, that is thanks to Gordons creative side as he plays a key role behind the scenes, designing and building new structures that keep our on-site animals happy, healthy, and engaged.

Always ready to lend a hand, Gordon is known for his can-do attitude and willingness to get involved in all areas of the centre — whether that means helping to move goats or supporting our busy facilities team fixing up the site. With a big heart for animals and a practical approach to problem-solving, Gordon is a valued part of our team, and we’re lucky to have him!
