Communications and Fundraising Manager
From a very young age I knew I wanted to work with, and for, animals. I was lucky enough to be brought up in Cumbria, sharing my childhood with dogs and cats, and was regularly treated to time on the local farm. My first animal voluntary role found me helping out at a dog and cat sanctuary on Crete. This was the start of a several year journey that saw me travelling and volunteering with some amazing animals in some fairly far-flung places, one the most memorable being my time in an orang-utan rehabilitation centre in Borneo. In between my travels I completed a BSc (Hons) in Animal Science. After spending several years without a permanent base I felt ready to set my sights firmly on finding a suitable role in Cumbria.
The opportunity to work at Oak Tree arrived in 2015 and I haven’t looked back. I feel very fortunate to work alongside such an amazing bunch of people. Our job here isn’t always easy, but knowing we are collectively doing all we can to help animals and owners in need, makes every day worthwhile.
