Husky Challenge - One Year On

Talk & Slides

Wed, 20th March 2019 (6.30pm)

Tickets £10 - include hot drink and piece of cake in The Barkery Tearoom, Oak Tree Farm!

In March 2018 Oak Tree staff members Caroline and Sarah took on a unique challenge that involved spending five days sledding through the rolling highlands and deep forests of Lapland!

Their charity challenge was to sled 270km from Norway, into Sweden through untouched nature, in order to finish at the world famous Ice Hotel in Jukkasjarvi!

This was no ordinary charity challenge – they were required to erect their own tents, cook for themselves and fulfil all camping duties with the equipment provided. In addition to looking after their selves, they were also responsible for looking after their teams of huskies – this was a true, “hands on” wilderness challenge!

And they took this on temperature reaching minus 25 degrees!!

The dogs' welfare is paramount and the company they went with take this very seriously so they found themselves pushing their own sleds at many points.

Caroline and Sarah funded the challenge themselves, and also raised over £3,000 in sponsorship for Oak Tree Charity.

Any funds generated through this talk on 20th March will go directly towards helping animals in need, so please attend if you can.
