Nicky

Education Officer

Nicky is our dedicated Education Officer, delivering engaging and informative talks to schools across Cumbria. She works with children of all ages, sharing knowledge about animal care, welfare, and responsible ownership through fun, interactive sessions tailored to suit different age groups and abilities.

Alongside her outreach work, Nicky also runs on-site education sessions during term time and school holidays. These hands-on experiences give children the chance to learn directly with our animals through activities such as pony grooming, educational animal meets, and puppy and kitten socialisation sessions. Young visitors can also learn practical skills about how to care for animals properly and understand their needs.

Nicky is passionate about inspiring the next generation to respect and care for animals. Her enthusiasm and warmth make her a wonderful part of the team, and her sessions are always a highlight for visiting groups.

You might also spot Nicky’s lovely dog, Ember, around the site. Ember sometimes joins in during talks, giving children the opportunity to meet him and learn even more about dogs.
