A new phase in Keswick

A new phase in Keswick

4th March 2019

We get thousands of calls every year from individuals throughout our region looking for help, support and advice about their animals. Sometimes this involves animal intake, often people just need our team's advice or practical support to be able to keep their animals at home. Often transport and proximity to our base at Oak Tree Farm is an issue for people so we are absolutely delighted to have opened our first community hub and Charity shop in Keswick where we already provide much support to individual owners. This will hopefully enable the Keswick and North Lakes community to access our support much more easily.

In addition, the shop will enable us to provide income to help us carry out our work and help us to become sustainable as an organisation. 2019 sees our 110th birthday and we are committed to ensuring that we are able to help pets and their owners for generations to come.

On Saturday we had our Official Opening of the Shop, with Keswick Mayor Cllr David Burn and our ex-resident Morag, who is now a fully-qualified search and rescue dog with Penrith Mountain Rescue Team, cutting the ribbon. It was great to see so many supporters, well-wishers, volunteers, staff and dogs turning out to celebrate turning our vision of a hub in Keswick into a reality. Thank you all so much!

Thank you also to every one who made it happen including Lake District Hotels ltd, our pawesome volunteers who steamed, priced and tagged items for sale and for everyone who donated stock!
