Oak Tree join the campaign for tougher animal sentencing

Oak Tree have joined with the Association of Dogs and Cats Home (ADCH) partners by writing to Michael Gove, Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, to try to progress the draft legislation for tougher sentencing in the UK for those convicted of Animal Welfare offences, so that animal abusers who commit the most heinous crimes can face up to 5 years in jail (currently 6 months). Despite cross-party support this legislation has made little progress in the past 18 months and we, like our ADCH colleagues, are keen to see this change in legislation. We do not believe that our current law protects or provides justice for UK animals who are victims of cruelty and abuse.
