Keswick Pet Blessing

Keswick Pet Blessing

6th October 2019

We were delighted to be invited by St Johns’ Church, Keswick to be a part of their pet blessing service today

A celebration of all creatures great and small, the congregation were joined by a large number of their four legged friends from hamsters to dogs. This dynamic service led by Revd. Charles Hope included a lively collection of music from the fabulous choir from St Herbert’s School, accompanied by various tuneful barks from the onlookers and a talk from Oak Tree’s General Manager Caroline Johnson about the work of Oak Tree and the importance of the human-animal bond.  The vicar then blessed all the animals present and gave every pet a well-deserved treat.

Caroline Johnson said “We are so thankful to have been involved in this wonderful celebration of animals and the importance they play in society.  Animals and our relationships with them, enhance our lives. They provide support when we are lonely, socially isolated; they share our joy and celebrations; and they provide that loyal companionship that enrich our very existence. This vibrant service, made extremely special by the support of St Herbert’s School Choir as well as our animal friends, is a perfect celebration of these special relationships.”

A retiring collection was held to support the our work, thank you all so much!
