Pet Plan Charitable Trust Help Equines of Oak Tree

3rd December 2020

We are delighted to announce we have been awarded £5,000 from the PetPlan Charitable Trusts’ Equine Fund.

Earlier this year, the Petplan Charitable Trust joined together with World Horse Welfare and the National Equine Welfare Council to create a Covid-19 Equine Rescues Emergency Fund. This fund helps smaller equine welfare organisations across the UK who are being significantly impacted by the current crisis. Oak Tree – who currently has 25 equines in our care – were shortlisted and subsequently awarded £5,000 towards the costs of caring for these horses during these difficult times.

Kristina, the grants fundraiser for the charity says “We were absolutely thrilled to find out we had been selected for support. It is critical that our equine care remains protected. The charity has been significantly affected by the pandemic. The shops and tearoom have closed, most events cancelled and staff have been furloughed – it’s been tough. We are so thankful to PetPlan for their support during these critical times”.

Caroline, Head of Animal Welfare said “This news is fantastic. Our equines need ongoing care and rehabilitation which is costly and time-consuming. We never want to turn away an equine in need and this grant will mean we can continue our vital work”

Thank you so much to PetPlan Charitable Trust!
