Oak Tree gets granted new trailers!

12th December 2020

We have been awarded £3,000 towards a new trailer for transporting our horses!

We applied to the Elise Pilkington Trust this year for funding to replace the trailer used for rescue operations and rehoming. The old trailers were no longer fit for purpose and needed to be replaced. The Trust kindly awarded the charity £3,000 to help purchase a new one.

Kristina, the grants fundraiser for the charity says “It was fantastic to open my emails and see that we had been awarded this grant. We have been looking for funding for this for a while and now we are pleased we can finally purchase a trailer. We are thankful to the Elise Pilkington Trust for their support”.

Caroline, Head of Animal Welfare, said “This is great news for both the animals currently in our care and for those we will rescue in the future. The new trailer will provide safe transport for veterinary and rehoming visits as well as collection of new intakes”

In 2017, the Trust also kindly funded the development of an equine training area. The sand school now provides a place to accurately assess the condition of a horse on arrival and allowed for the rehabilitation and re-schooling of the horses in a safe environment. It provides a space for potential adopters to view the equines they are interested in and also gives an additional training and exercise area for the existing horses and ponies.

Thank you so much to the Elise Pilkington Trust!
