Calling on Co-op shoppers for support!

18th January 2021

Oak Tree Animals’ Charity is calling on Co-op shoppers in Carlisle to support the region’s animal welfare via the Co-op Local Community Fund.

Each time a member shops at their local Co-op store throughout the UK, 1% of what they spend on selected own-brand products and service goes to the Local Community Fund. Members can then go online and select which cause they want their own 1% to go to, together with the money raised from carrier bag sales to help local projects.

Every year the Co-op Group chooses a new list of local causes and this year, the great news is the ‘parkour’ project is set to receive member funds from 25 October 2020 until 23 October 2021.

The Parkour Project will create a dog parkour obstacle course for the community to benefit from. Parkour provides local dog owners and enthusiasts the opportunity to participate in this fun activity in a beautiful woodland.

Speaking about the Parkour Project, Kristina, Oak Tree's Grants Fundraiser says: “This is wonderful news for us. As a co-op shopper I know that the benefits the scheme brings to the community are great. If there are shoppers nearby who want to bring a new service and community space to the area then please help us by visiting www.coop.co.uk/membership and making us your cause next time you do your shopping.”
