Meet the Volunteer: Paula

From 1st to 7th June 2023 it is Volunteer Appreciation Week!

4th June 2023

Who?

Paula has a background in therapeutic counselling and has a keen interest in genealogy and history dating back before the middle ages. She became a volunteer at Oak Tree in November 2020.

A native of Harrogate, Paula moved to Cumbria via Spain. The camaraderie, humour and support of other volunteers help her to feel at home and very much part of the Oak Tree community.

What?

As well as being responsible for sorting incoming donations at Oak Tree, Paula volunteers on Saturdays, Tuesdays, at Easter, summer and Christmas sales, as well as many other events throughout the year. Paula’s energy and caring skills were previously put to good use in the kennels. This included walking the dogs. Her dedication to animal welfare is evident when you meet Paula with her adopted Lurcher, Jess; their strong bond shines through.

Why?

Paula believes donating is one of the best ways to recycle, which is very important to her. She also believes that without exception, everyone at Oak Tree has a passion for caring which is fundamental and kindred to her own ethos.
