Team Oak Tree Husky Challenge

14th January 2018

Caroline and Sarah, who both work at Oak Tree, are taking on a unique challenge that involves spending five days sledding through the rolling highlands and deep forests of Lapland for an experience they will never forget.

Their charity challenge is to sled 250km from Norway, into Sweden through untouched nature, in order to finish at the world famous Ice Hotel in Jukkasjarvi! Their challenge begins in the Arctic city of Tromso, where they make their way to the Dog Sled Centre in order to meet their husky companions. After meeting and greeting their furry friends, they then dive straight into the spirit of adventure and spend their first night in a traditional Lavvo, surrounding the roaring fire.

This is no ordinary charity challenge – they will be required to erect their own tents, cook for themselves and fulfil all camping duties with the equipment provided. In addition to looking after their selves, they’ll also be responsible for looking after their teams of huskies – be assured, this is a true, “hands on” wilderness challenge!

And they will be doing this in temperatures reaching minus 20 degrees!!

The dogs' welfare is paramount and the company they are going with take this very seriously so they will be pushing their own sleds at many points.

Caroline and Sarah are funding the challenge themselves, but are looking to raise funds for their place of work, Oak Tree Animals’ Charity. Please consider making a donation – every single pound will go directly towards supporting animals in our local community.

If you would like to donate, please head to the ‘Team Oak Tree Husky Challenge’ on the Oak Tree Virgin Money Giving page

Thank you very much in advance for any support you may be able to give.
