Description

Mouse is a sweet Shetland who is very curious! She is very nervous of new people but once she gets to know you she loves lots of attention. She came to us unhandled and was unable to be caught in a field but has come a long way using positive reinforcement, and can now be caught, groomed and bathed. We would like for any potential new home to be willing to continue this positive reinforcement training while building a relationship with her. She is good for the farrier but is very nervous of the vet, particularly when needles are involved. Again, something we would like any new adopter to continue training with.

Mouse loves every horse, pony, donkey, and mule she has met while being with us! She would benefit from being in a home with constant companionship as she gets stressed when left on her own. She loves to go out for walks in the local area alongside her friends.

She has suffered from laminitis in the past so will need careful management to prevent this reoccurring. She would need a grass free turnout area to spend some of the day in to help prevent laminitis, as well as to monitor her weight as she is a good doer.

WE HAVE MORE HORSES AND PONIES IN NEED

On average, we have 400 animals come into our shelter every year. Please take a look at some of our horses and ponies looking for loving homes and see if you can find a friend for life. Where appropriate, all of our animals are vaccinated, microchipped and neutered. We also give each animal a behavioural assessment to identify their needs and help you find your perfect companion.
