Meet the lovely Roxy, a 2 year old Beagle X. We do not know what she is crossed with, but I am sure you will agree, she certainly has the 'X Factor'.

Please look past her pretty face and read very carefully the type of home that Roxy will require and be certain that you are able to offer her what she needs.

Roxy seems to be dog friendly so could potentially live with another dog. She is very playful with them, given the opportunity. She has not lived with cats and we are still assessing her response to meeting them - currently she appears mildly interested when she sees them. Roxy can be left for short periods and is house trained. Roxy could live with older children.

Roxy needs a secure garden and an owner that will put quality time in to training her. An owner must fully appreciate that a scent hound needs A LOT of recall training and may NEVER be fully trained to go off lead unless in safe places. This is really important to understand as a scent hound could cover many miles if they decided to follow a scent. Roxy is an active girl who will benefit from a home that enjoys plenty of longs walks and treks. She is a super friendly girl but with a typical sense of houndy independence. If there is a way to get out to go off exploring, Roxy will spot it! She would excel at nosework activities such as tracking or scentwork games. Watch the video - this was her first time at seeking out some of her food hidden inside towels.

Although Roxy is a cross, she will have many characteristics of a beagle. We advise any adopters to find out more about general breed characteristics via beagle welfare groups or the Kennel Club.

On average, we have 400 animals come into our shelter every year. Please take a look at some of our dogs looking for loving homes and see if you can find a friend for life. Where appropriate, all of our animals are vaccinated, microchipped and neutered. We also give each animal a behavioural assessment to identify their needs and help you find your perfect companion.
