Description

Meet handsome 2 year old Laddie. He is sadly now been here for over a year and is still on the lookout on for his forever home. On the plus side, we have discovered truly what a special boy he is and with time and dedication, would make an amazing companion for a terrier lover.

Being originally bred to work, this guy has lots of energy to burn. However unfortunately, he does suffer from early arthritis which means he does not always want to go on long walks. He is very intelligent and thrives when learning new tricks as well as doing scent work. In his downtime, he loves to chew (or destroy!) tennis balls and enjoys affection when he instigates it.

He can struggle to settle if he hears lots of external noises when indoors which is why a quiet location would be best.

Laddie tends to react to other dogs out of fear when out walking but over the last year, he has made huge progress and has even managed to make some friends. We feel he is still best suited as an only dog but has the potential to walk out with dog friends. We found that he is better with older and calm females.

Potential adopters must be prepared to make multiple visits and be willing to carry on with positive reinforcement techniques. We would also recommend that adopters continue working with a qualified positive reinforcement trainer post-adoption. Oak Tree’s Training and Behavioural Team can provide ongoing support.

WE HAVE MORE DOGS IN NEED

On average, we have 400 animals come into our shelter every year. Please take a look at some of our dogs looking for loving homes and see if you can find a friend for life. Where appropriate, all of our animals are vaccinated, microchipped and neutered. We also give each animal a behavioural assessment to identify their needs and help you find your perfect companion.
