Description

Ben is a lovely and affectionate 2 and half year old trailhound. He loves his walks and outdoor time, and will happily trek the fells for a few hours (stopping to share your picnic en route, of course!) Ben is very dog friendly, and due to being a shy boy (with people), he gains a huge amount of confidence from being around another dog, so we are looking for a home with at least one other dog. He has lived with cats and is actually a bit nervous of them so will avoid them. Ben needs to have someone around a fair bit of the time as he may get anxious being left too long. He is mostly housetrained but may still have occasional accidents, will need brushing up on that.

The ideal home for Ben would be in a rural setting with a confident dog, with a secure garden. He needs stability and routine. He needs all his carers in his home to be on board to help him become confident to be around them. Ben is a beautiful boy with so much love to give.

Ben will need a few visits from an adopter so that they can build up a rapport with him, as he can be quite a worrier. Once you gain his trust, he loves kisses and cuddles. He is a gentle boy and could mix with children but will be more relaxed in a quiet adult home for most of the time.

FOSTERING - We would be interested in hearing from anyone who would be able to foster Ben, so that he can spend quality time away from the kennels. We would consider just weekend or partial fostering. It would need to be with someone who meets all the above criteria, and who lives reasonably close to us. Feel free to ring for more details or email suel@oaktreeanimals.org.uk

WE HAVE MORE DOGS IN NEED

On average, we have 400 animals come into our shelter every year. Please take a look at some of our dogs looking for loving homes and see if you can find a friend for life. Where appropriate, all of our animals are vaccinated, microchipped and neutered. We also give each animal a behavioural assessment to identify their needs and help you find your perfect companion.
